Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Training and Experience:
Jill Sebaugh is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked with children and families for 15 years in a variety of settings including schools, community mental health centers, in-home settings, pediatric hospitals and on-line. Jill earned a bachelor’s degree in both social work and dance therapy from the University of Georgia and was a scholarship student receiving her Masters degree in social work from UGA in 1996.
Approach:
Jill’s approach to therapy is eclectic and creative. She uses a variety of theoretical approaches to meet the needs of each client. Her use of scrapbooking as a therapeutic tool has been featured at professional conferences in Georgia, Florida and Missouri in addition to being accepted for publication by the Journal of Psychosocial Oncology.
Jill provides counseling and support services to parents interested in addressing issues that will enhance their ability to support their children’s healthy development. Jill is a general practitioner who also provides services to clients covered by Medicare or who are interested in using tele-therapy modalities. Her services are based on the following beliefs:
The emotional and mental health of parents must be nurtured in order to create an environment in which children can become cognitively and emotionally healthy
There is not a ‘one size fits all style’ of parenting that is ideal for all children or families
Creative approaches lead to emotional growth, healing, and problem resolution
All families have an important story to tell
Jill’s services are designed to support, promote, and restore the emotional health of parents so that they can use their parenting skills effectively and learn new skills to support their children’s development. These services will help strengthen the bond between parents and children, promote effective discipline, and connect families with community resources that will enhance family life.
