Credentials and Professional Experience
Yvette Montsho is a licensed professional counselor in Georgia and a licensed mental health counselor in Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Morris College and a Master of Arts degree in mental health counseling at Webster University. She has worked in the mental health field for 14 years in schools, foster care homes and outpatient settings. She has extensive experience with children, families, adults and couples. She has training in the following: Cognitive Restructuring; Infant mental health; Attachment-centered Play therapy; Trauma-focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy; Integrative Approach to Treating Trauma: blending IFS, sensory motor, mindfulness, psychoeducation, somatic experiencing to heal trauma and stress disorders; Sensorimotor approach to healing trauma through the body; and Helping anxious kids: Advanced trauma treatment interventions.
Approach
Yvette is compassionate, attentive, supportive and is eager to help her clients build resilience, improve self-esteem, make positive changes, and ultimately improve their quality of life. She believes in developing a therapeutic alliance Building a trusting relationship where the client experiences a safe environment to be their authentic self and share things in a nonjudgmental atmosphere. She is a client-centered therapist; however, she uses an eclectic approach with clients while realizing their unique needs due to race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, and cultural background. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, play therapy techniques, art therapy techniques, internal family systems, mindfulness and explores other resources that are deemed beneficial to her clients.
